Fuzzy feeling fashion

After thinking about packing for my impending Indian
adventure and writing a post featuring my favourite
Braintree Clothing items for such a holiday, I thought
I'd share with you another gorgeous and ethical brand.

Designed in the UK, handmade in Africa and India. Designing and selling clothing, footwear, swimwear, accessories, clothing and jewellry - Aspiga.com has grown into 450 boutiques and department stores across the world. It's not hard to see why.
Not only are the pieces unique, on trend, well made and fantastically priced, Aspiga donates a percentage of their profits to The Brydges centre, a children's orphanage just outside Nairobi, who struggle financially on a daily basis, to carry out their hugely valuable and necessary work.
                                                   Aspiga Brights

Dressing like a teacher: A how to NOT guide

There are several reason why teachers end up looking like a teacher.

We typically buy from the same shops and end up morphing into each other, style wise. Plus, we are obsessed with practicality which negates any inclination to stray from plain. Or perhaps some of us don't really care! It's not a career known for being fashion forward after all. The girls at work can't shed any light on this matter other than agreeing with those statements! So here goes...

10 things I think all teachers regardless of age/size/career point, should do to look less 'teachery'!
  • Throw out those pilled or bobbled tops and jumpers - I know we all own them!! I say ill only wear it once more when I get to the bottom of my 'work box'.
  • Buy a pair of trousers for the winter AND one for the summer. At least. All year round trousers are boring.
  • DO NOT wear things you wear at school, outside of school, and vice versa.
  • Mix it up. Wear trousers one day, a dress and tights the next. You could get away with wearing the same pair of boots, pumps, if you really wanted. Although, see next....
  • Have a range of work shoes, they can change the way you feel about what you're wearing.
  • Don't buy head to toe ASDA or TESCO. You'll look super samey.
  • Don't buy 6 of the same style top in different shades. They'll look the same and some shades probably won't even suit you. I look back at photos and look like a ghost because of the colour choice'.
  • Wear patterns and prints, but in the form of shirts and blouses, to keep it smart.
  • Pick shades related to the season. I just the right thing to do!
  • Busy or repeating prints? = plain bottoms. Patterned trousers? = plain top. See below.

Plain staple trousers. We all need em' but they don't need to be boring. High waisted, tapered leg are flattering and look great with flats. Plus tips cam be worm tucked in or left over the waistband. The shirt with these trousers is pretty but still smart. (Image +ASOS)

I love these trousers because they're quirky and smart. They look great styled with the slouchy black jumper. (Image ASOS)

The kids notice what you wear (mine do daily - no exaggeration) and you're a role model to them, so yes you have to look like a teacher in one sense but its good to mix it up, break the mold, show personality, etc - and I don't mean be the weird and wacky 'hippy' teacher I had!! Kids always ask me questions like ''what are those type of shoes/trousers called?' (Moccasin shoes for example) which is funny, but I like putting thought into what I wear at work even if it is just a school and not the office of Vogue.

I think it's time I thought about what Im going to need for Autumn/Winter. It beats planning!
My faves are +ASOS , +H&M  and +MANGO

Making a lazy outfit more interesting

Hi got ready for work this morning in a rush. So I wore something simple - plain white t-shirt and black skinny trousers with black ballet pumps, boring yes but extremely comfortable and smart.

I went to a sale on the weekend and got myself some funky jewellery at bargain prices. So  this morning I thought I would début it with my simple outfit, I've had alot of positive comments on it too......

The designer is Nocturne (UK) and can be found at Zara Bryson stores online

What to wear in the office

I have decided to change the theme (if you like) of the blog, I felt I have waned in the past 18 months of starting this and life, daily activities etc. have got in the way of the constant postings of lingerie that I quite liked.

So instead of stopping I want to incorporate the blog into my daily routine and life. I work Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5 pm in an office situated in the suburbs of Perth. Because my daily environment is very corporate, I am usually surrounded by men in shirts and ties and women who's dress sense is so un-inspirational I hardly notice they are there.

I try to dress as nice or differently as I can for this corporate workplace, but there is only so much you can do before you start to get bored of what your wardrobe has to offer, and this doesn't take long.

Hopefully I will keep this up, for my own inspiration if nothing else, but we will see.........
